Installing mods is what makes them work - why else woud you go to all the trouble to make or download them? However, the method varies with different types of operating systems. Rough instructions are: Contentsshow Windows XP Start My Computer C:/ Program Files Electronic Arts SPORE Data Then. CD/DVD: Uninstall and Reinstall it as you normally would. Spore has limited install's of 3/5. (Depending on when your version was released.) If it doesn't work, that means you've installed it. Forgotten spore has great mods, they have ton of extra parts mods that use the part that are in the game just not normally accessible. The dark injections mod is nice, it adds butt loads of customization but it can be buggy. Please be sure to back up your game files and some mods might not be work.
