If anyone is curious, the mods are rrhairkhajiit.esp and it's corresponding bsa file. They do work in SSE too, if you unpack the BSA and repack it using SSE's included BSA repacker.
You might need to open the esp in the CK64 and save it, I always do when up-porting mods from oldrim to SSE for 'back-end' reasons so I didn't check beforehand.No, I don't intend to redistribute this mod in any way, but if any one is curious I can give a short tutorial on how to upconvert (I also made it so that the hair would work with the Lykaios race, though my quick fix breaks it so it doesn't work for Khajiit).
I used to get the gray skin bug too! It usually only happens with followers, not my main character. I honestly am not sure how to fix it permanently, but each time I see it happen, I go into console, select the gray faced character, and change his weight with setnpcweight 75 (or whatever number you want) and that fixes the skin color until the next time I restart the game. If your face models are showing corners, it probably has to do with your quality settings – make sure you have your settings as high as possible.
