It’s powered by a 300-horsepower Caterpillar 7.2-liter diesel engine with 860 pound-feet of torque and is armed with an Allison 6-speed automatic transmission with double overdrive and air brakes.Zoglio said the engine has a 500,000-mile warranty and the transmission has a 400,000-mile warranty.
He said he used to own a Humvee, but found the 100,000 mile warranty limited.“After 100,000 miles, the expenses come back at you,” he said.The cabin is equipped with a screen for a rear view camera and a separate navigation screen. To this end, I translated the Icelandic regulations and presented them to the New South Wales (NSW) Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA), along with images of Icelandic vehicles that were similarly modified. I also presented my ideas to Toyota Australia, as at that time most 44' modified search and rescue vehicles were based on the 80 series LC.The RTA were less than enthusiastic about my ventures, but Toyota Australia more so. They 'lent' me the vehicle initially under some product development scheme. With a project vehicle secure, I got in touch with Toyota Iceland, P. Samuelsson, who now have a separate division for vehicle modifications called.
They provided me with the fender flares and auxiliary hydraulic ram for the steering, plus some modification outlines. All the tests were passed within regulation. This was written up in an Engineers report that I still have a copy of. With this in hand, I went to an inspection station and got the vehicle registered.
I believe it is the only legally registered 44” modified 4X4 in Australia to date.With the vehicle registered, my product development project was completed, and I purchased the vehicle from Toyota Australia. All four of them were of the 3.0-litre diesel double-cab variant, heavily modified by the Artic Truck who were also responsible for the Top Gear North Pole Challenge Hilux.Artic Truck is a 4x4 modification and conversion specialist in Iceland.

To accommodate the gigantic tires, the front suspension had to be moved 4cm down, 5cm forward and lifted by another 5cm. Fenders also had to be cut and larger parts of the body had to be rebuilt.
The rear suspensions were moved back 16cm and lifted 10cm. On the drivetrain, a 100% differential lock are fitted on both front and rear axles, while an additional crawler gear is installed. According to reports from Top Gear, they have sent crews to the Hilux to Antarctica. The first things that seize our attention are the massive 38-inch tyres housed in those bulged out ‘bigger than Arnies’s lats’ flared wheel-arches. These coupled with the heavy duty winch up front and not to forget the shotgun hanging out at the back of the truck, gives it an image that screams out its 4WD seriousness.Enroute, the Icelandics claim it impossible to pass in a car, is something called a boulder field with terrain so unforgiving that it would rip out the truck’s under-body parts. With the temperatures reaching a dick-freezing -65°C, a lot of things like the truck’s mechanical parts could go wrong.
Heck, even the fuel in the tank’d be frozen at those temperatures.To defeat these extreme conditions, the Hilux has been fitted with parts like heavy duty locking differentials, thick skid plates, fuel heaters etc. The mods have been done by ‘Arctic Trucks’ a company that specializes in prepping 4WDs for extreme conditions. Timbul lagi masalah anyar, tarikan alias akselerasi bawah jadi lemot akibat ban gambot tadi. Pemiliknya, Ryan Melano, dalam posisi ‘menantang’ mainstream. Tengok saja pada body kit.
Bagi saya Gialla pasaran pada Harrier. Walaupun keren, dinamis and totally simple. Tapi saat melihat area belakang, saya mesti membuang jauh-jauh anggapan minor ini. Hadirnya quad exhaust perlu modifikasi.Biasanya Gialla hanya mengandalkan single 98 mm round exhaust tip, tapi kali ini diaplikasikan Exclusive Zeus Mk.2. Sentuhan detail juga terjadi pada side mirror cover yang ditutup oleh Wald, karena cukup mengganggu. Hasilnya clean-look-all-around concept, tanpa mengorbankan sisi kenyamanan, keamanan dan reliabilitas dari Harrier itu sendiri.Hidden agenda-nya ada di velg. Biasanya velgnya yang ukuran ‘normal’ di 24x9 inci dengan ban 275/25R24 atau 255/30R24.
Sedangkan tuner Jepang suka velg 22 inci plus ban tipis, yang terkesan pendek. Resident evil hunk unmasked. Maka di benak Ryan, “Gimana pake velg segede-gedenya, tapi bisa bikin seperti Japanese look. Sedan but SUV”. Tantangannya; apakah velg 24 inci dengan lebar yang dipake orang Jepang untuk 22x9/9,5 + 0,5 atau 1 inci bisa diaplikasikan?

Modulare sendiri enggak merasa yakin fitment ini bakal masuk.

Makanya velg seperti ini bisa diwujudkan, tidak seperti Japanese wheels yang terpaku pada dudukan tabel offset and size saja. GOING TO THE MAX9,5 Jika velg depan dipakai 10 inci, terlalu berat untuk roda kemudi dan fitment ke dalam masih ada mentok untuk posisi clear corner.
Maka cukup 9,5 inci saja untuk velg depan.10 Velg 10 inci di belakang ini agar bisa meniru gaya sedan dengan alokasi pemakaian roda sebesar mungkin untuk posisi fender yang mepet.7,5 + 8 Tein Super Flex Damper Wagon dengan posisi depan diturunkan 7,5 cm dan belakang 8 cm. Jika diturunkan lebih jauh, roda depan bakal kena fender.
Bagi saya, kombinasi ini tetap membuat mobilnya nyaman, keren dan mumpuni untuk ngebut.14 Pengereman masih dipercayakan Z Mevius 14 inci dengan 4 pad 4 pot untuk menyangga ban 24 inci.
